Ann Elizabeth Hamilton's Obituary

Ann Elizabeth Mosher was born January 25, 1946, the only child to Mabel Voigtlander and Harold Mosher in Faribault, Minnesota.  Her father described her as a "good student" and book lover.  She pursued her passions, attending Gustavus Adolphus College earning a degree in English and Education. She married Robert Wegner on June 14, 1969 and began their life together in Minneapolis in an English Tudor home that she loved. Ann taught English at Bloomington Jefferson High School until the birth of her first child, Kristine, in 1972.  After a traumatizing home invasion, Ann and Bob moved back to their childhood hometown of Faribault, purchasing an early 1900s home, and filling it with antiques and more children: fraternal twins Jon and Erich in 1974, and Kathryn (Katie) in 1979.

Robert and Ann divorced in 1988.  Due to a lack of teaching jobs in Minnesota, Ann took the leap to start anew in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, landing a job at a private K-12 school, Coastal Academy.  She later transitioned from teaching to library work at Coastal Carolina University in their media collection, earning a Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina.  It was at Coastal that she met music professor William Hamilton.  They married in the spring of 2005, and settled in Conway, South Carolina where Ann created another beautiful home, Craftsman style.  After retirement, Bill and Ann took many trips together and enjoyed going to musical concerts, festivals and movies.  Ann pursued genealogy, visiting ancestral lands in Norway and Germany.  She was assistant editor of the Grand Strand Genealogy Club.  Her last big project was War Letters, and features her father's World War II experience.

Ann was a devoted mom and active in her children's education.  She sewed beautiful clothing for her children.  She had an incredible sense of personal style and interior design.  She wrote infamous Christmas letters!  Ann was active in her church communities of Trinity Lutheran and St. Anne's Episcopal, often speaking and reading to the congregation.  The consummate perfectionist, she did everything well.  She had more to do!

Ann passed away from colon cancer on September 6, 2025.  She is survived by her husband, William Hamilton, four children: Kristine Wegner-Ahlbrecht (Brian Ahlbrecht), Jon Wegner, Erich Wegner and Katie Wegner (Lauren Mack), two grandchildren: Lauren Ahlbrecht and Ethan Ahlbrecht.   She left detailed instructions on how she would like her children to honor, celebrate and remember her life. In lieu of flowers, the family will make contributions to the following organizations: St. Anne's Episcopal and Valley of Peace Lutheran Kitchen/Lower Level Remodel.  The family will also plant trees with brilliant fall color in Minnesota, where Ann's "roots" are.  You may contact Ann's daughter, Kristine Ahlbrecht at krisahlbrecht1972@gmail.com. No formal service is planned at this time.
