Dr. Betty Mincey Peavy went to heaven on Saturday, July 13, 2024, after 73 years on this earth. Betty was born on October 16, 1950, in Loris, SC to Clifton and Frances Best Mincey. Betty was a faithful member of Aynor Methodist Church. She participated in the choir for many years and loved the choir and the director, Miss Sylvia Page. She was also co-director of the First Place Study Group. She also participated in Mt. Herman Bible Study Group and the "Dream" group of school retirees. Dr. Peavy treasured education and completed the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Education, Masters in Elementary Education, Educational Specialist in Guidance and Counseling, and Doctorate in Education. She was proud to retire from Horry County School District. Betty was married to Joe "Butchie" Peavy for many happy years. Their time together was considered precious to each other. He was always her "Knight in Shining Armor." Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Francis Mincey, her special sister, Barbara Mincey Season, her nephew Marty Wayne Mincey. Her survivors include her two children: Amy Springs and Joe "Bubba" Peavy Jr. (Tammy); sister: Bonnie Mincey Suggs (John); brother: F. Clifton Mincey, Jr. (Amy); grandchildren: Ashley Parker (Josey), Crystal Rollings (Josh), Dustin Peavy (Heather); great grandchildren: Hailey Peavy, Joley Parker, Case Parker, and Adlee Rollings; nieces: Falon Suggs and Brandy Mincey; nephews: Ernie Anderson, Sabian Suggs; and great niece: Bridgette Suggs. Visitation for Dr. Betty Peavy will be held July 17, 2024, from 10:00 -10:45 AM at Aynor Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 11:00 AM at Aynor Methodist Church with Rev. Kelly Snelgrove officiating. Burial will follow at Aynor Cemetery.
