Betty Graier (Richardson) Baxley's Obituary

Betty Richardson Baxley, age 85, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Conway Medical Center. Betty entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior as loved ones surrounded her with their love and prayers. Born on February 17, 1939, the daughter of the late Isaac Graier and Dessie Rogers Richardson. Betty was a strong Godly women who loved deeply. She held her family so very close to her heart and was present to give support to anyone in need. Betty centered her life around family and friends unselfishly. Times spent with them were her happiest moments. Many memories were made that will last a lifetime. Her gentle spirit, her smile, her laughter and her kindness will never be forgotten. Being a child of God was of utmost importance to Betty. She was a faithful longtime member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church where she served in many capacities, including pianist and singing in the choir. A true servant for her Lord. Betty retired from the Department of Natural Resources. She made many friends there and considered them as an extension of her family. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by four sisters: Elbertine Brown, Mildred Martin, Verna Thompkins, and Miriam Gasque; and one brother: Isaac Richardson. Betty was the devoted and loving wife of Willie Joe Baxley. Together they were blessed with one daughter, Tammy Baxley who would grow up to be their best friend. Tammy was their pride and joy and the center of all their favorite memories. Betty considered being a role model for her family as a blessing. A task she did not take lightly. And a role model she was! No one could have loved them more. We her family proudly lift her legacy as one to follow. Betty is survived by her husband: Willie Joe Baxley, one daughter: Tammy Baxley; one brother: Ray Richardson; and three sisters: Arbedella Blackman, Carol Chestnut and Jenny Hardwick. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Mt. Herman Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Floyd and Rev. Donnie Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
