Brenda Hay Knight, 76, of Aynor, S.C., entered her eternal Home peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Brenda was the daughter of the late Allen Mason Hay, Sr., and Alice Austin Hay. After Brenda graduated from Rice Business College in Charleston and early in her marriage to “Dickie,” the two of them made the decision for Brenda to be a “stay-at-home” Mom. She carried out that responsibility with much dedication and love over the years, raising three awesome children! She served faithfully alongside Dickie through his many years of ministry! Brenda was a member of Harleyville First Methodist Church, Harleyville.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard (Dickie) Hayes Knight; a son, Ricky Knight (Rita) of Clover, S.C.; two daughters, Richelle Hardee (Craig) of Aynor, S.C., and Blakely Cunningham (Matt) of Blythewood, S.C.; ten grandchildren, Emma Hardee, Hayden Hardee, Rilan Cunningham, Kailyn Knight, Paxton Cunningham, Brinley Knight, Layna Hardee, Carsten Cunningham, Hayes Knight, and Breason Cunningham; two brothers, Allen Hay and Don Hay of Harleyville, S.C.
Two Celebration of Life services for Brenda will be held. Due to renovations at Aynor Methodist Church, the first one will be at Brown Swamp Church, Conway, S.C., on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Atrium. The second service will be held at Brenda’s home church, Harleyville First Methodist Church, Harleyville, S.C., on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Rev. Darrell Ricketts and Rev. Richard “Dickie” Knight will be officiating both services. A private family graveside service will be held following the visitation at the Harleyville Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their deepest love and appreciation to Brenda’s caregivers, Keith Ceurvels and Crescent Hospice and Shannon Carroll, who were so loving and compassionate to Brenda during her Alzheimer’s journey. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the charity or church of one’s choice or to Crescent Hospice, 1516 East Highway 501, Suite 101, Conway, South Carolina 29526. Johnson Funeral Home of 290 9th Ave, Aynor is taking care of arrangements.
The family requests that everyone who attends the Celebration of Life Service come in a spirit of joy and worship and to wear colorful clothes in Brenda's honor!
