Mr. Charles "Bill" Hooks, age 81, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on March 17, 2025. Mr. Hooks was born December 17, 1943, a son of the late Fulton and Ruby Owens Hooks. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hooks was also predeceased by one brother and three sisters. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, a Mason, an Omar Jazz Mortician with the Shriners, and he enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Hooks served his Country in the South Carolina National Guard and as a Sargeant in the United States Marine Corps where he served in the Vietnam War and received five Medals of Honor. He is survived by his loving family that he loved dearly: his loving wife: Jane Hooks of the home; one daughter: Kim Hooks Skillman and her husband Ken of Atlanta, GA; one son: Adam Hooks of Aynor; two granddaughters: Emilee Skillman of Nashville, TN and Mattie Skillman of Wilmington, NC; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Herrington and Rev. Randy Hilburn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church fellowship hall.
