Clifton Hayes Roberts (age 70) passed away peacefully at home on 3/5/26 after a 15-year battle with Parkinson's Disease and late-onset Dementia. Clifton was born on December 14, 1955, to Hayes and Mary Sue Sellers Roberts. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Roberts Tanner and Helen (Pat) Moore. Clifton is survived by his wife, Angela Thompson Roberts; one son, Robert Clifton Roberts (Brittany); two grandsons, Mason Eugene Roberts and Lucas Clifton Roberts; one brother, Z. Nelson Roberts (Agnes); one sister, Merry Shelley; several nieces and nephews, and "extra" kids along the way. Clifton graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology. He retired from SC DHEC as Environmental Health Supervisor of Horry, Georgetown, and Kingstree Counties. Clifton was very involved in the Seaside Emmaus and Coastal Carolina Chrysalis Communities. He led "Clifton's Crowd," an accountability reunion group of six young men, for three years. Clifton also volunteer-coached the Aynor High School Varsity Golf Teams for twenty+ years, placing seven students on college scholarships. Clifton and Angela still valued the close relationships they have with Clifton's "Golf Boys". Until his last breath, young people still came to him for advice and just to be around him for a calming presence. Clifton made everyone feel like FAMILY. A Celebration of Clifton's life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 8, 2026, in the sanctuary at Pisgah Methodist Church: 1600 Pisgah Church Road, Aynor, SC 29511. Rev. Richard Knight will officiate. Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends/family in the fellowship hall.
