Doris Ann Jones's Obituary

On Friday afternoon, March 1, 2024, Mother Doris Jones entered into eternal rest. She was the daughter of the late James and Martha Braswell-Perry. Born on October 11, 1928, in Franklinton, North Carolina, she was the eldest of seven siblings of whom four have preceded her in death.

She attended Benjamin Franklin Persons High School in Franklinton, North Carolina

During after this time, she joined into Holy Matrimony to Mr. Frank (Pete) Jones. To this union was blessed with four children. Two children preceded her in death.

For many years she was employed by the Aynor Postal Service. She worked part-time with her husband at Conway National Bank. She also worked part-time with her husband with the Horry County School District until her health failed.

She joined St. John Freewill Baptist Church in her adult years. She served as Mother of the church.

Mother Doris "Dot" Jones was a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. When you met her, she always had a special smile. And a different type of laugh. One of her favorite Scriptures was, "Psalm 23:6. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

She leaves to cherish her memories, two devoted daughters:  Ms. Marie Ann Jones of the home, Mrs. Mary Christine Moore (Clyde) Lawer of Lexington; S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Jannie Asbury Jones of Surfside, S.C., five grandchildren: Kimberly Lawer, Mrs. Candace Lawer (Thomas) Johnson, Clayton Lawer all of Lexington, S.C., LaTasha (William) Reisher of Surfside, S.C. and Justin (Heather) Jones of North Charleston, S.C.  two sisters:  Maureen Perry, Judy Onyirimba of Franklinton, N.C., two sisters-n-law, James-deceased (Doris) Perry and John-Deceased (Linda) Perry of Youngsville, N.C., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing relatives and sorrowing friends. Two special adopted daughters:  Mrs. Maggie Smith and Mrs. Ramona Page.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday March 6,2024 at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor.  /Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024, at St. John Freewill Baptist Church with Bishop Fredrick Murray officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
