September 29, 1943 – July 26, 2017
Mr. Douglas M. Martin, age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior July 26, 2017 at Grand Strand Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Martin was born September 29, 1943 a son of the late Clarence and Annie Sue Todd Martin. He was predeceased by one brother, Levon Martin, and one son-in-law, Greg Hausfeld. Mr. Martin was a faithful member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He was a former Peddler with the Omar Shriners. Mr. Martin loved being outdoors and taking care of all his animals, especially his horses. He also found great joy in his hobbies which included fishing, woodworking and gardening. Douglas treasured the many friendships he acquired throughout his community and at Conway National Bank and the Horry County Tax Assessors Office where he was employed for many years. He was a devoted husband and loved his family and church dearly. Douglas is survived by the love of his life his wife Rebecca J. Heniford Martin. He is also survived by his children, Amanda M. Hausfeld of Myrtle Beach, Nan M. Barnett (Brian) of Murrells Inlet, and Kevin Heniford (Stacy) of Loris, two brothers, Dennis Martin and Timmy Martin both of Aynor, five sisters, Bonnie Page of Seneca, JoAnn Berry of North Myrtle Beach, Lib Barnhill of Aynor, Shelby Frye of Chelsea, Alabama, and Wanda Squires of Aynor, and three grandchildren, Landen Hausfeld, Layne Barnett, and Nickolas Heniford.
FUNERAL SERVICE
Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM Friday at Pleasant Union Baptist Church of Aynor, with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.
VISITATION
Visitation will be held in the church fellowship hall prior to the service from 4:00-4:45 PM.
BURIAL
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
