Ernest D. Owens, age 85 of Nichols Hwy. passed away November 18, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Owens was born December 9, 1928 a son of the late JA Owens and Myrtle Owens. He served in the United States Army where he was a decorated Korean War Veteran. Mr. Owens was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was predeceased by his grandson O'Neal Hardwick. Surviving Mr. Owens in addition to his wife Mrs. Sarah Owens are one son, Randy Owens, one daughter, Rita Hardwick, three brothers, Willard Owens, Terry Owens, Carroll Owens, one sister, Elizabeth Oliver, two grandchildren, April Anderson (Tom), Julie Clardy (Michael) and five great grandchildren, Caroline Anderson, Thomas J. Anderson III, Isaiah Clardy, Laura Ellen Clardy, and Vivien Clardy.

Visitation will be held November 20, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday November 21, 2014 at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery.
