Harry Gene Phipps, age 66 of Hwy 712 passed away October 18, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Phipps was born December 28, 1947 a son of the late Millard Filmore and the late Janie Evon Harrelson Phipps. Mr. Phipps was a member of Pine View Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was predeceased by one brother, Jerry Phipps, and a nephew, Phillip Phipps. Surviving Mr. Phipps are one son, Joey Phipps pf Galivants Ferry, two daughters, Brandy Watts (Dale) of Conway, Kim Housand of North Carolina, one step daughter, Christy Davis (Keith) of Galivants Ferry, one sister, Brenda Long (Bobby) of Galivants Ferry, one sister in law Helen Phipps of Blythwood, SC, six grandchildren, Bryson Watts, Luke Watts, Caleb Essick, Shannon Essick, Justin Housand, and Holly Housand.

Visitation will be held October 20, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of 290 9th Ave. Aynor. No other services are planned.
