Ms. Hilda Sellers, age 83, passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Hilda was the daughter of the late Harmon and Rhodia Dimery Turner. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings, William Turner, Jay Turner, Joy Turner, Julian Turner, Loyce Long, Lila Turner, Celia Logan, Jean Dyson, and Shirley Johnson; and the father of her children, Jimmy B. Sellers.
Hilda was born in a very large family and was the baby. She worked hard throughout her life to purchase “farm” land and then spent many years putting in ponds and fence lines. She loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing. Especially with her favorite 9’ bream buster. One of her favorite pastimes was going to auctions and finding deals. She had a tackle shop that rivaled local stores. She loved growing blueberry bushes and pecan trees and filled her properties with both.
Hilda had two incredible daughters who supported and loved her up to her final day. Over the years, Janice and Patricia Ann, aka “Ann” aka, “Trish,” would be whispering and giggling on the couch and laughing with each other until Janice would cry. Hilda used to shake her head and laugh along with them.
She loved traveling across the world to visit Ann at her many military assignments. She also loved renting a houseboat and catching catfish and bass.
Her pride in and love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds. She instilled a love of cars in Brandon and would spend hours picking veggies in the garden with Brittany. Hilda would determine the harvest, and when the bucket was full, or the row was picked, Brittany was done.
She adored her great-grandchildren and loved watching the boys catch bass and bream out of her ponds. The girls always made her smile with their shy smiles and giggles. She loved seeing what birthday cakes the girls conned their Mimi into creating for their special days.
Her roommate and loving friend, Billie Root, was with her for many years and was critical in providing care for her. Her special friend, Lisa Martin, spent many hours and days caring for her farm and cooking special dinners for her. She got her to appreciate a little bit of “northern” cooking. But there were times when it was just “alright” which meant Lisa didn’t need to make it again. While the memories are too many to recount, her generosity to family and community will never be forgotten.
Surviving Ms. Hilda are her two daughters, Patricia Ann Sellers and Janice Sellers Collins (Vernon); grandchildren, Brittany King (Jimmy) and Brandon Collins (Kimberly); great-grandchildren, Cheston Vaught, Eastyn Vaught, Abigail Collins, Ella Collins, John Thomas King, and Jake King; sisters, Betty Sue Staples and Donna Lamb; special friends who are family, Billie Root, Lisa Martin, and Derrick Chestnut; and many extended family whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 5 – 7 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marty Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kind Keepers Animal Rescue, 1500 LD Drive, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
