Jimmy Johnson Ray's Obituary

Mr. Jimmy Ray Johnson, age 75 passed away September 30, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Johnson was born May 21, 1941 a son of the late Kelly Walker and Mary Elouise Barnhill Johnson. He was predeceased by three brothers, and three sisters. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aynor for many years and was very active in all aspects of the church. He was the owner of Jimmy Ray's IGA for 30 years in Aynor. Throughout his life, Mr. Johnson was very active in his community. He was a volunteer fire fighter, cofounder and president of the Rolling Hills Golf Club, past president of the Aynor Lions Club, and the Jaycees. Mr. Johnson was the past president and co-founder of the first Aynor High School Booster Club, and co-founder of the Aynor Little League. He was a past Master Mason, former Aynor High School Football Coach, former Mayor Pro-tem of Aynor, life time member of the Wildlife Action, served as Police Commissioner for the Aynor Police Department, and served on the board of directors for the Salvation Army and the United Way. Mr. Johnson had a great love for the game of golf. He played golf all over the world and played on the US Senior Amateur Tour. Surviving Mr. Johnson is his wife of 55 1/2 years, Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Ann Moore Johnson of the home, one daughter, Cindy Collom, one son, Danny Ray Johnson (Lisa), all of Aynor, one sister, Elouise Yoggi of Port Royal, SC, five grandchildren, Bradley T. Moore (Bridgit), Walker Ray Johnson, Daly Alysse Johnson, Mallory Capps, Keaton Capps (Jenni), one great granddaughter, Bradlyn Moore, and his faithful pet Scarlet.

VISITATION

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday October 1, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor.

FUNERAL SERVICE

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Aynor with the Rev. Jerry Johnson, Rev. Michael McGirt, and Rev. Johnny Jenerette officiating.

BURIAL

Burial will follow at the Aynor Cemetery.
