"Joey Boots", a true New York Yankee, was raised in the Bronx, New York City. He attended Catholic schools until college, where he earned a BA in History from Pace College, and later a MA in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.  He always said he had two careers-one in Mortgage Banking and one in banking software sales for Sound Software and then Mortgage Bot. He was referred to as "Pickle" due to the customer orientated deals he would make with his clients.

Sports was his passion through college as the catcher in baseball, with a rumor of a major league offer until a broken ankle in his senior year squashed that dream. Not to be discouraged, he continued his love of sports coaching his daughter, Erin, and son, Brian in soccer.  The trip of the 1979 Strikers to Prince Edward Island was one of his fondest memories. He remained close and in contact with the players who became as family. His daughter, Kelley, chose the water, swimming and sailing.  Joe's contributions to his community were huge and whether in sports or business, he gave his all.

His full life was book-ended with a final chapter in South Carolina with his second wife Denise. He made many neighborhood friends, gained quite an extended family who loved him, and became reacquainted with other Yankee transplants, all while quietly enjoying the beach, many family gatherings, and the special southern life.

A visitation memorial will be conducted on Dec. 9th, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Avenue, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576; and a mass will be held Dec. 10th, at 2:00 pm, again at St. Michael Catholic Church.  The family will hold another celebration of life for all those who loved him in New York, where he will be interred where his mother, father, beloved brother, and two favorite uncles rest at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Association https://act.alz.org/ in Joseph's name, and a request be sent to the Pace University Athletic Department that Joseph be admitted to the school's athletic hall of fame.
