January 28, 1936 – January 6, 2020
Mary Pearl Bruton Dyson, 83, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed on to glory Monday, January 6, 2020 due to complications from COPD. A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020, at First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following in the Family Life Center. She is predeceased by her husband Stephen James Dyson and her son Stephen Wayne Dyson. Mary was born January 28, 1936, in the Cedar Grove area of Conway, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Van Douglas Bruton and Norah Louise Graham Bruton. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Dyson Bennani (Fawzi) of Pawleys Island, SC. Mary was a wonderful Mother and an incredible Grandmother! Her granddaughters were the pride and joy of her life: Nora Bennani Strom (John) of Washington, D.C.; Yasmine Khira Bennani of Manhattan, NY; and Mary Sophia Bennani of Columbia, SC. Mary is survived by two brothers Wallace Wayne Bruton (Reba) and Lloyd Russell Bruton (Joann). She is predeceased by her sister Bobbie Jean Bruton Doyle (Henry). Mary was blessed to have many nephews, a wonderful niece, and dear cousins. Mary graduated from Conway High School. She attended HGTC. Mary retired from General Telephone Electric. In 1985, Mary along with her son-in-law and daughter started Casablanca Rugs & Carpet. Mary loved her family, her church and her country, most of all, she loved Jesus. Mary made the best fried chicken and coconut cake that one could eat. Mary traveled the world. She enjoyed reading, gardening, tending roses and playing Scrabble. Mary was blessed to have three special friends who gave her extra love and support as her health failed: Barbara Stocks, Carol Stallings and Annemarie Linder. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, 500 4th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 or a charity of your choice.
