Mr. M.D. Carmichael, age 83, husband of Mrs. Margie Steven Carmichael, passed away December 17, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at Grand Strand Medical Center following an accident.  Mr. M.D. was born November 25, 1941, a son of the late Maxie Dougald Carmichael and Estelle Dudley Carmichael Shelley.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father: James Wright Shelley, Jr; one brother: Herbert Carmichael; and two sisters: Geraldine Bullock and Carolyn Hucks.  He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.  Mr. M.D. established Aynor Tire Mart in August 1977, where he has since worked alongside his family members and he was a member of the Aynor Masonic Lodge #257. He enjoyed his daily conversations and interactions with his friends and valued customers there.  Mr. Carmichael loved his family and any occurrence that brought them together including cookouts, time at the river, and traveling.  In addition to his wife of the home, Mr. M.D. is survived by two children: Maxie Carmichael (Rhonda) and Dee Dee Roberts (Pedy); his grandchildren: Chad Carmichael (Bobbi), Alex Aston (Player), and Hannah Roberts; great grandchildren: Blakely and Mabry Carmichael, and Cullen Aston; one sister: Arba Johnson; one sister-in-law: Saundra Carmichael and many nieces, nephews and extended family.  A funeral service for Mr. Carmichael will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Conner and Rev. Danny Whitner officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will then return to the church fellowship hall to receive family and friends to share memories of Mr. M.D.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in honor of Mr. M.D. to Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund 2080 Hwy 129 Galivants Ferry, SC 29544.
