Miss Rachel Velma Dawsey, age 84, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, following an unfortunate automobile accident. She was born November 21, 1939, a daughter of the late Hiram and Eloise Dudley Dawsey. Miss Rachel was a devoted member of Aynor Methodist Church where she served her Lord and church family in many different capacities and was a schoolteacher for over 30 years. Miss Rachel was a selfless person who always put everyone's needs ahead of hers. She served her community endlessly with her famous goodies and was devoted to her family and friends. Miss Rachel is survived by her sister: Flora Lawrimore of Trinity, NC; four brothers: Sheldon Dawsey (Mary), Steve Dawsey (Beth), Stan Dawsey (Sue), and Derrick Dawsey (Cindy) all of Aynor; her nieces and nephews: Missy Lewis, Katy Hucks, Greg Dawsey, Brad Dawsey, Ginger Hardwick, Jason Dawsey, Nathan Dawsey, Mark Dawsey, Barry Lawrimore, Angela Baliff, Wendi Payne and many great nieces, nephews, and extended family. Miss Rachel's family will receive friends at one of her favorite places, "The Gathering Place" on Dawsey Road, Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 1:00-5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Aynor Methodist Church with the Rev. Kelly Snelgrove officiating.
