Shirley "Granny" Parker

Mrs. Shirley “Granny” Parker, age 86, of Aynor, SC, passed away April 6, 2026, following an extended illness. Mrs. Shirley was the wife of the late Russ Parker and the daughter of the late Austin and Annie Thompson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Carole Taft, and one grandson, Josh Bright. Granny was a member of Berea Baptist Church, where she enjoyed serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be remembered by many in the area as Granny, as she loved everyone she met as if they were her own. Granny enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, and sewing, especially sewing memory bears for those she loved. Surviving Mrs. Shirley are one son, Rusty Parker (Jennifer); one daughter, Leslie Copeland (Bert); grandchildren, George, Kathryn, Taylor, Adam, Bert, Rashell, Katy, and Brandi; fourteen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sandy Morawski; and one sister-in-law, Aunt Betty Thompson. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Ragsdale Alsbrook officiating. The family will then visit with friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
