William "W.G." G Hucks Jr.'s Obituary

Mr. William "W.G." Grier Hucks Jr., age 92 of South Main Street Aynor, passed away July 14, 2016 following an extended illness at Grand Strand Health Care surrounded by family. Mr. Hucks was born September 28, 1923 a son of the late William Grier Hucks Sr. and the late Frostie Jordan Hucks. He was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church and was predeceased by two brothers, Archie Elder Hucks Sr, Wildon Hucks, and four sisters, Wyoma H. Allen, Arlene H. Hardee, Irma H. Altman, and Almeria H. Graham. Mr. Hucks graduated as valedictorian and class president from Aynor High School in 1940. After graduating from Aynor he attended the University of South Carolina before joining the United States Marines during World War II. After returning home from World War II Mr. Hucks was employed with Pee Dee Farms for eleven years before becoming the Magistrate of Aynor. Mr. Hucks began his employment for Anderson Brothers Bank in 1961. He would work there for 28 years and would become the branch manager and vice president of the Bank. Mr. Hucks loved his town and while living in Aynor, he served his church, state, county, and town in many different capacities throughout his years of public service. Mr. Hucks is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mrs. Betty Thames Hucks of the home, two sons, William "Willie" G. Hucks III (Deidra) of Conway, SC, Larry Hucks of Myrtle Beach, SC, two brothers, Lenair Hucks of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Ronnie Hucks of Laurinburg, NC, two sisters, Jeanie Mae Hucks Edge of Laurinburg, NC, Lana H. Hurt of Greenville, SC, one grandson, Grier Hucks of Conway, SC, and two great grandchildren, Will Hucks and Gracie Hucks.

VISITATION

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Saturday July 16, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor.

FUNERAL SERVICE

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday July 17, 2016 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Earl Noble officiating.

BURIAL

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
