Carol Sue (Sorensen) Thavenet

Mrs. Carol Sue (Susie) Sorensen Thavenet, age 84, of Tulsa, OK, passed away at home surrounded by her family in Galivants Ferry, SC on January 25, 2021.  She was born in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Harry B. Sorensen and Annie Mae Cox Sorenson.  She graduated high school in West Monroe, Louisiana in 1954. Carol was married to the late Francis D. Thavenet on June 30, 1962 in Grand Island, Nebraska.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carol is preceded in death by one sister, Harriet Ann Sorensen; one brother: Geoff Austin; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: John and Margaret Albers and Orville and Edna Thavenet.  Mrs. Carol worked and volunteered with the American Red Cross and also volunteered with Big Brother/Big Sister Program where she wrote the monthly newsletters.   She owned and operated T&T Valet Services in Tulsa, OK and also worked for Kriz Davis company in Grand Island.  She was a Ham Radio operator with WBØ MST.  Mrs. Carol also was an author and published three books and was recognized by the National Library of Poetry for one of her poems.  Mrs. Thavenet is survived by one son: Michael Thavenet (Teri) of Eldridge, Iowa; two daughters: Diana Lynn Thavenet Jones (Russell) of Galivants Ferry and Donna Renee Thavenet-Trentman of Tulsa, OK; and eight grandchildren: Lindsay Johnson (Heath) of Galivants Ferry, Jordan Artz of Conway, Emily Johnson (Casey) of Easley, SC, Jason Thavenet (Jenny) of Mundelein, IL, Adam Thavenet (Kelly) of Eldridge, IA, Kylie Huge (Alex) of Iowa City, IA, Tyler Trentman of Glenpool, OK, and Alexandria Wood (TJ) of Claremore, OK.  There will be a private family held memorial for Mrs. Carol Thavenet at a later date.
