Dorothy Lee Lawson

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Lawson, age 80, of Galivants Ferry passed away unexpected Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Conway Medical Center.  Mrs. Lawson was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Ella Rabon Johnson.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by one daughter: Brenda Gail Lawson; one grandson: Chase Larrimore; and siblings: Sylvia Jordan and Johnny Johnson.  Mrs. Dorothy was a member of Pee Dee Original Freewill Baptist Church of Conway.  Mrs. Dorothy was a good wife of 63 years to Mr. Bobby Phillip Lawson. She stood by him throughout the good and the bad.  She loved him more than he realized and praised him for all he did for her, as she depended on him not only as her provider, but caregiver.  That didn’t stop her from letting him know when she was not pleased even in straightening him out sometimes when he didn’t do what she thought he should.  Their honesty and love for each other always shined though in the way they could communicate.  Dorothy had a special way with her two daughters, grandchildren, and a special bond with her sister and other family members as well. She always had wise advice with any problem that you may have been dealing with.   She may not have always agreed with what was happening but always loved you through it. When she was able she loved to shop and always liked to dress her best when she went out in public.  As time took its toll, she found new interest in social media and reconnected with family and friends though chatting.  She will be missed by so many and never forgotten.  Her spirit will live on through all that knew and were touched by her presence.  Here to cherish the memories of Mrs. Lawson are two daughters: Pamela Larrimore (Kenneth) and Tamela “Tammy” Skipper (Drandy); four grandchildren: Hillary Anderson (Blake), Caroline Springs, Tanya Skipper (Gage), and Abby Skipper; five great grandchildren: Aubrey, Bella Grace, Blaklyn, Eli, and Addison; and one sister: Fannie Mae Wells.  A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 5:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating.  Burial will follow at Pee Dee Original Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gideons International for Bibles to be placed in her memory.  https://www.gideons.org/donate.  Mrs. Dorothy Lawson and family are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home of 290 9th Ave. Aynor (843) 358-5800.
