Hoyt Fulton Poston, age 71, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family after a long battle with dementia. Born on June 20, 1950 in Conway, SC, he was the son of the late George “Pete” Washington Poston and Mary Etta Collins Poston. Mr. Hoyt loved horses and was a hard-working self-employed farrier for over 40 years. You could often spot him driving around in his pickup truck or hanging at Cool Springs Store, drinking a Pepsi-Cola. Hoyt had the title of the “Unofficial Mayor of Cool Springs!” He never met a stranger and claimed all the ladies loved him. He loved to dance shaking his leg and saying “Hey, Baby Hey!” In addition to his parents, Mr. Hoyt was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Poston and two sisters, Lib Larimore and Sally Mae Elvis. He was also preceded by his former wife, Donna Poston Crowley with who he was married for many years. Mr. Hoyt is survived by his four children: Teresa Poston and Willis Poston (Kim) of Aynor, Deborah Poston (Jamie) of Conway, and Justin Poston (Terra) of Columbus, MS; eleven grandchildren: Jordan, Shelby Lynn, Katelyn, Michael Grace, Bryce, Alivia, Aubrey, Brayden, Carlene, Carlson, Zachary and Michaela; and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Junior Poston and Buddy Poston; and two sisters: Kathy Elvis and Odessa Poston all of Conway and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Cool Springs Southern Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Stevie Baker officiating. The family will receive friends and family following the service.
