Mr. Joseph Wayne Hardwick, age 79, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021, at McLeod Loris Hospital. Mr. Wayne and his wife Erline Allen Hardwick, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 21, 2021. Mr. Hardwick was the son of the late Palma Hardwick and Ina Mae Perritt Hardwick Burroughs. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one son: Glenn Hardwick; two brothers: Willis Hardwick and Gennis Hardwick: and one sister: Shirley Barnhill. Mr. Wayne attended Mt. Trolly Freewill Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors hunting, running his hounds at the fox pen, or working on the farm. He enjoyed his time fellowshipping with the men at the local stores. Mr. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman that loved teaching and helping young hunters learn the proper skills of hunting. Mr. Hardwick is survived by his wife, Mrs. Erline Hardwick; two daughters: Gayla McCracken (Rodney) and Connie Hardwick; three grandchildren: Shana Dix, Jessica Skipper, and Winter Gibson; five great grandchildren: Luke Dix, Lake Dix, Mariah Skipper, McKenzie Skipper, and Macy Skipper; and one sister: Martha H. Richardson. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Timmy Hodge and Rev. Rusty Brown officiating. Please wear a mask while attending the service and practice all social distancing guidelines. In the event you will be unable to attend the service, it will be live streamed on Johnson Funeral Home Facebook page. Due to the current conditions surrounding COVID-19, the family has requested that phone calls, emails, and text are welcome, but if possible, please refrain from visiting at this time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made in Mr. Wayne’s honor to Mt. Trolly Freewill Baptist Church, 1782 Barnhill Road, Galivants Ferry, SC 29544.
