Robert E. Thompkins

Mr. Robert E. Thompkins, age 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior November 14, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Thompkins was born October 1, 1947, a son of the late Leon and Ruth Harrelson Thompkins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompkins was also predeceased in death by two brothers, Earl Harrelson and Johnny Tuberville. Mr. Thompkins served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Marine Corp League. He was an avid believer in the Horry County Toys for Tots. He loved history and enjoyed watching it on TV and reading. Mr. Thompkins is survived by his loving wife: Mrs. Elise Carroll Thompkins of the home; two daughters: Vickie Lynn Williamson (Michael) and Mickey Thompkins Wellons (Lenny Crowe);six grandchildren: Summer Thompkins (Shey Powell), Cameron Williamson (Sara), Conner Williamson (Jasmine), Victoria Wellons Fox (Everette), Allison McKenzie Wellons (Colin), Madison Grace Wellons; five great grandchildren: Blakley Williamson, Mason Reid Hardee, Ellis Kate Williamson, Briggs Fox, Stratton Elise Fox; one sister: Gail Dunn; and a special cousin: John Harrelson. Funeral services for Mr. Thompkins will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
