“Queen” Louise Ruth Huggins Paige, “92” years old was born March 24, 1930 to the late Deacon Jasper and Reathea Wells Huggins. Just shy by 19 days of her 93rd birthday, on March 5, 2023, at 8:32 PM, “Queen” Louise and Sarah were holding hands as she transitioned from her earthly life into her spiritual life at the McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence SC.
“Queen” Louise attended Clarendon County Public School and graduated from Conway High School in 1988.
“Queen” Louise was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. George Payton serving on the Usher Board, Senior Choir, YMCA, Royal Court, and Missionary. “Queen” Louise also enjoyed her flower gardening, walking, and cooking. If you were to ask her “How are you?” her response would be “I’m still kicking and doing good.”
“Queen” Louise loved her natural and spiritual family, believed in big hugs, and lots of love, always saying “I love You, thanks for checking on me.”
“Queen” Louise worked for Horry County Schools until her health failed.
“Queen” Louise joined in Holy matrimony to the late Olidan “Slim” Paige. To their union, eight children were born.
“Queen” Louise was preceded in death by her husband: Olidan “Slim” Paige; one son: Slyvester Huggins; one daughter: Barbara Paige; one son in love: Jerry Davis; one daughter in love: Joe Ann Paige; two grandsons: Jasper Brown and Kenneth Paige; one great granddaughter: Faithlynn Paige; brothers: Johnathan, George, Bernard, Leroy, Mark, Rubin Huggins; and one sister: Carrie Huggins.
“Queen” Louise loving and fond memories are cherished by six children: James (Eulia) Huggins of Thomasville, NC, Sarah (Hezekiah) Brown of Marion, SC, Linda Davis of Galivants Ferry, SC, Cheyenne Paige of Aynor, SC, Patricia (David) Jones of Turbeville, SC, and Mary Nixon of Conway, SC.
“Queen” Louise help raise thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren. There is also a huge host of nieces, nephews, cousins, natural and spiritual friends.
